Hey Chris, thanks for the curiosity and diligence.

The events seen in both Sword of Blood and Dark Art take place in October/November of 2008 (this is supported by the numerous date drops in Sword, seen in its first episode, and in Rachael's blog itself). In contrast, Rachael's blog unfolds in real time. The only spoiler in this instance is since Rachael is blogging today, she survived the events of 2008.

When viewed through the prism of our real time storytelling efforts as seen through Rachael's blogs and tweets, this is no more a spoiler than you posting a comment on this blog, confirming that you also survived the events of 2008. :)

This perfectly represents just one of the delightfully innovative and brain-bending experiences we're pioneering with the Rachael blog and character.

As for the newspaper article: Again, remaining faithful to the reality in which Personal Effects takes place -- a reality in which the events of Sword of Blood are past tense -- the article's inclusion on the site is perfectly appropriate, particularly considering that the J-L's site was constructed to enhance the Personal Effects: Dark Art "out of book" narrative experience. It was deployed months ago, long before Sword of Blood was conceived or written by me.

Unlike Rachael's blog and tweets, the J-L newspaper site is obviously not updated in real time. Or perhaps it is, and hasn't published a story since November 2008! ;)

I do appreciate the scrutiny, and hope you will continue to listen to Sword of Blood. And thank you for the pre-order and support!

Umm. You should say spoiler alert. I think you all but said the girlfriend lives. (Not a given considering the 4th book in the 7th son trilogy had only 2 people dying.) Going to the link to the paper gives a major spoiler. Look at the story starting with "Art Therapist Pieces ...". Not sure how this affects the book but it sure seems to have an effect on the prequel. (Please no grammar nazis about affect vs effect. I used them both.) My guess is that it summarizes the prequel. Bummer.

I do have the book preordered through Amazon and hope free super saver shipping is shorter than 5-9 days.

Hah, you don't get away with it that easily. Despite your bogus claim that you couldn't write that well, there's no evidence that I've found that this person actually exists. For that matter, I'm starting to have concerns about you. What if you're a fictional author created by another author or cabal of authors, how would we know?

You're clearly a fictional entity who's been trying to understand his own fictionalness by creating another fictional author, who unlike you is unaware of it's fictional nature, thereby granting that character the solace of the illusion of realness that you've never been able to enjoy!

Sorry, foolfodder. Matthew Wasteland is indeed a real blogger (though that's *probably* not his real last name). Besides, I could never write so well. He's the real deal.
