Hell yes, it’s here — the first podcast novella ever written to celebrate the release of a print novel! It’s my latest work, Personal Effects: Sword of Blood … and it’s a FREE podcast-exclusive prequel to my print novel debut, Personal Effects: Dark Art.
Welcome to Brinkvale Psychiatric Hospital, where optimistic art therapist Zach Taylor is confronted with his most intriguing patient to date: a cheerful elderly woman … who’s also a remorseless killer. Her cryptic clues, and the quilts she’s creating, propel Zach into a brainbending quest for a treasure that may be more dangerous — and deadly — than he ever imagined.

NEW TO J.C.’s FICTION?
If you’re new to the site and my work, make yourself at home. I’ve been releasing free audiobooks and podcasts since 2006, and am gearing up for the June 9 release of Personal Effects: Dark Art, a novel that combines the traditional novel experience with a multimedia-fueled “out of book” narrative that unfolds via phone, email and websites. Pre-order a copy of Personal Effects: Dark Art today.

Dagnabbit Hutchins! I already can’t wait for the next one.
Excellent!
I’m hooked already. I can’t wait to hear more and read Dark Art.
Very different from 7th Son but definitely as good. Characterisation is brilliant. Thank god. Something good to listen to again. Love all the movie references.

Creepy… Intriguing… Is it time for the next episode yet?
Great stuff, keep’em coming!
Hot Shit, Hutch!
Way to step up to the plate and just swing for the Green Monster!
Good first chapter, amigo. What strikes me as immediately different form your previous work is the atmosphere. It’s heavy, deep, thick. You can almost pick up the scent of the heavy, cool, sterile air forcing it’s way up into your sinus cavity. Let’s see if the atmosphere can withstand the remainder of the novela.
If I were a betting man, I put money that you can…
DANG, I knew this was going to be a great story but I wasn’t expecting to be hooked after the first episode! When is the next one released?????
I’m really into this. Next episode please!
Just jumped back in, J.C., and it couldn’t have been at a better time! I loved the first episode and immediately ordered 2 copies of the book so that I will have one to share.
Your writing, as always, is stellar.
Happy to jump on another elevator….
