“A Shared Culture” is a new video that helps explain the idea behind Creative Commons. It was created by by Jesse Dylan, the director who made the extremely popular “Yes We Can” video for Barack Obama.

    This creative commons thing is really interesting; thanks for posting it. But I’ve still got a lot of questions. I’m not sure how to specify the rights I want. Creative Commons is good, but there aren’t enough options.

    I know you’re not a patent attorney, but in your opinion, is it possible to establish ownership through the Library of Congress and then just make up the rights you want?

    CC license works wonders. Just look what the band NIN has done with it; turned the record labels on their heads! Just like podcasting, it makes things become viral.
